African Queen

The tutorial by Jimmy Boatright was in the Bead & Button Magazine from February 2017.

It is easy to follow the pattern but the mentioned amount for the main colour is not correct.

Set "Aroha"

Finally, it is time to follow up on my last cruise.

I had the opportunity to accompany the “AIDAcara“ on a part of its world tour. My part brought me from San Antonio in Chile over the Easter Island, Tahiti, Bora Bora and New Zeeland to Sydney. If you take a look at the route, you will see, that we passed a lot of time at sea.

Therefore, I prepared a lot of projects, some needing a lot of time like the “Double Oglala”.
One of the special projects is the set “Aroha“. The name is a word of the Maori and means “Love“.

Because we were travelling shortly before Christmas, I thought, that something sparkling was the right idea. So, I bezeled Rivolis of different sizes with peanut-beads.

Sadly, my design was not as liked as I thought. They liked the earrings and the chain of the necklace but not the pendant.

Necklace "Rollercoaster"

This necklace by Vera Baumeister was published in “Perlenpoesie” n° 32.
It has an extraordinary design, so I had to try it.

I started with the first repeating pattern following the instructions to the letter. But I noticed that I did not like it this way. I do not like these seesaws and I could see the thread on the edges between the picots in step 6.

So I decided to bead it my way. That means, I secured the three seed beads of the picots in one step above and below before starting the next element. I also connected the RAW-parts directly to the corresponding basic-element. This way I built up the necklace reducing the back-weaving to a minimum.

The necklace is very lightweight. You have to place it very carefully but then it keeps it place.

Addition: Wearing the necklace a bit longer, the semicircle parts fold to the centerline, which doesn`t look not very nice

Leyla - the necklace

To complete the set I needed a matching necklace. It was made after the trip and in a new colour combination.

Muscat I

Another long-term-project is finished.

Two years ago my husband bought me this beautiful labradorite in Muscat. It needs a suitable frame, which it got with this crochet necklace.

Good things come to those who wait

or they get a lariat.
In the Beadwork-Magazine August/September 2010 was the Aurora-Lariat by Scarlett Lanson.
I fell directly in love with the spheres at the ends but I do not like the remaining part.
For a long time I crept around this tutorial but finally I made one of these spheres and I was excited.

It took only another year to finish the second sphere and the crochet rope, which is 110 cm long.

Poppy

One of my British friends is a volunteer in the British Legion. She was asked, if it is possible to use the symbol in a piece of jewellery.
Here is my necklace:

Sonoko's way

In the Bead & Button Magazine from February 2014 explaint Sonoko Nozue her way of bead croching. Now I tried it myself.
I do not know, if I have read the pattern correctly. But I like the result.

I used 3mm pearls and facetted beads of the same size.

Verona

Because I like the side parts of the "Firenze" by Yvonne King very much, I brought them into the center. The result is the necklace "Verona".

I used pearls from 8 to 12 mm. It is a necklace for every day, but it is also prepared for the evening.

Firenze Necklace

This necklace was not the first on my to-do-list, but then a friend persuaded me to make it. Now I am happy that I did. It is suitable for daily use.

The pattern has been written by Yvonne King and you find it in the Beadwork Magazine February 2014.

Singapore meets Varna

Last year I bought some rectangular shaped stone-beads in Varna. Seeing them I had the pattern of the "Imperial Necklace" by Manek in my mind.
Of course I adapted the design to my ideas.

Chrysanthenum

The necklace "Chrysanthenum" by Manek was my project for the beading meeting in Bavaria. I had so much to look and talk, that I did not have enough time to finish it there.
After seeing an example in nature, I knew, that my necklace only will have three flowers.
Here it is:

Livia

A colleague of my husband ordered a necklace for his wife for the silver wedding. The requirement was; simply but with heart. Here is the result:

And, where is the heart? Look here:
The necklace was the burner :-)

Lady Madeleine

This pendant is a design by Manek.

But I did not like the strap, so I made my own croching.

Pandora's Pendant Necklace

The pattern for this necklace is from Manek. It was very relaxed beading.

I wear it often.

Back again

Here I am again.  I stayed two weeks longer for holidays. The results I will show step by step.
It was wonderful to travel this time with my husband. We celebrated our 30th anniversary .

My dress was dark red like red wine and I made a "Hindia" by Heather Collin to go with.
